I always think modesty is the best policy. Being not obsess over a person always an advantage because human is not perfect. Only look up 100% on people who already made their walk-the-talk life in this world until their last breath and keep on improving oneself knowledge, attitude and behaviour in practicing our belief.
If you think by practicing religion makes you an angel, well, you are wrong because religion is there to fill your thoughts in a directive manner. It is not a tool you use to claim yourself as a non-sinner, because human will never stop making mistakes.
However, the mistake have its own degree I believe. And depends on how serious it is. Either it's between you and God or between you and others. Thus, there is always cause and effect to our action. Anyhow, God loves those who repent, thus the concept of Tawbah exists.
Stop thinking you are not vulnerable to sin or you have to be perfect to be religious or you have to be "religious" to be perfect. As a human, there is always room for improvement. As long as your mind is in a healthy state to figure out, we are all here to learn and grow, in a righteous way.
